Kochi, Aug. 28 -- Kerala, which houses some of India's leading aluminium extrusion units, continues to play a crucial role in the national aluminium industry even as manufacturers seek stronger policy backing to tide over mounting challenges, including the impact of U.S. tariffs and a surge in low-cost imports.

The state is home to major facilities such as Malabar Extrusion in Kochi and Hindalco's 12,000-metric-tonne-per-annum plant at Alupuram. These units cater to the growing demand for aluminium profiles and alloys across architecture, transport, defence and consumer durability.
