New Delhi, Aug. 5 -- Moody's Analytics Mark Zandi has warned US policymakers and termed the economic conditions as "on the precipice of recession". Zandi pointed out last week's data releases, including the job report of the Bureau of Labor Statistics, a unit of the US Department of Labor.

In a social media post on X, Zandi wrote, " The economy is on the precipice of recession. That's the clear takeaway from last week's economic data dump. Consumer spending has flatlined, construction and manufacturing are contracting, and employment is set to fall."

"And, with inflation on the rise, it is tough for the Fed to come to the rescue," Zandi added.
