Washington/Caracas, Nov. 22 -- Several US military aircraft have been spotted operating off the coast of Venezuela in recent weeks, in what appears to be Washington's largest military buildup in the Latin Americas in decades - exacerbating fears that the US may conduct direct military strikes in Venezuela.
The buildup includes thousands of troops and some of the world's most advanced warships and aircraft, in what the US has called its attempts to combat the flow of illegal drugs, which it claims come primarily from Caracas, a speculation that has been shot down by the US' own federal agencies, which have identified Mexico as the largest supplier. The agencies have said Caracas has a very minimal role in drug smuggling in comparison.
