Mexico City, April 28 -- The US Embassy in Mexico has issued a security alert ordering government personnel to avoid the border city of Reynosa following reports of escalating violent criminal activity.
The advisory, released Monday, cited incidents including roadblocks and security threats in and around the city.
According to the embassy, the US Consulate General in Matamoros received credible reports of violence in Reynosa, prompting immediate restrictions on travel for US government employees in the area. The development underscores ongoing security concerns in the northern Mexican state of Tamaulipas, which borders the US state of Texas.
