Paris, July 25 -- US Special Envoy for Syria Tom Barrack yesterday announced that a rare meeting between Syrian and Israeli officials, held in Paris, had succeeded in achieving initial de-escalation in the wake of a violent flare-up in southern Syria.
Barrack confirmed that he met Israeli Minister of Strategic Affairs Ron Dermer and Syrian Foreign Minister Asaad al-Shibani, reports Axios.
The talks focused on the deteriorating security situation in Syria's Suwayda province, where armed clashes between Bedouin tribes and Druze self-defence groups erupted last week, leading to massive casualties.
