Geneva, July 25 -- China's envoy to the United Nations said that the United States has sought to hype up Xinjiang-related issues in a blatant attempt to interfere in China's internal affairs and contain its development, fully exposing its hegemonism and hypocritical double standards.
Fu Cong, China's permanent representative to the United Nations, responded to a statement made by the U.S. delegation at an open meeting of the Security Council on cooperation between the UN and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC).
"China firmly opposes and categorically rejects the groundless accusations made by the U.S. representative regarding China's Xinjiang region," said Fu Cong, China's permanent representative to the United Nations.
