Washington/Jerusalem, Sept. 14 -- The United States' Secretary of State Marco Rubio travelled to Israel on Saturday for an official visit, less than a week after the Israeli military's airstrike in Qatar to eliminate the Hamas leadership in Doha, a move that has led to Jerusalem finding itself in midst of a diplomatic maelstrom.
The Tuesday strike compounded the already growing international pressure Israel has been facing since the IDF campaign in Gaza, and was made far worse after the UNGA vote on Friday, which was overwhelmingly in favour of a two-state solution for Israel and Palestine, showcasing the country's growing diplomatic isolation.
