SAHIBGANJ, Dec. 17 -- : Urban local bodies in Sahibganj district are facing visible fiscal stress, with revenue collections falling significantly short of annual targets, officials said during a district-level review meeting chaired by Deputy Commissioner Hemant Sati on Wednesday.

The Sahibganj Municipal Council reported collection of Rs 336.19 lakh against its annual target of Rs 847.86 lakh, reflecting less than 40 percent achievement so far in the current financial year. The shortfall has raised concerns over the ability of civic bodies to sustain routine services and undertake development works without external support.
