Kolkata, Dec. 17 -- The Election Commission's district-wise data on uncollectable forms shows that the maximum deletion of voters' names in West Bengal has been concentrated in and around Kolkata, with Kolkata district, North 24 Parganas, South 24 Parganas, and Howrah together accounting for a disproportionately large share of the total deletions in the state.
West Bengal has a total electorate of about 7.66 crore voters, of which around 58.2 lakh names (7.6 per cent), have been categorised as uncollectible during the Special Intensive Revision (SIR).
Of these, nearly 22.7 lakh deletions, close to 39 per cent of the state total, are concentrated in just four districts forming the greater Kolkata urban agglomeration.
