Patna, Nov. 25 -- Taking serious note of the detection of Uranium in breast milk, scientists have called for an urgent and comprehensive genetic study of lactating mothers and their infants in Bihar. A recent investigation revealed the presence of Uranium-238, a radioactive and hazardous isotope, in breast milk samples collected from multiple districts.
Calling the findings "serious and alarming," Chairman of the School of Preventive Oncology, Dr. Dhirendra Narayan Sinha, said a genetic study is essential to determine whether Uranium exposure has caused mutations or abnormalities in mothers and their children.
