Barabanki, Aug. 3 -- Two shopkeepers lost their lives and three others sustained serious injuries when an electric pole became live due to waterlogging near Shree Lodheshwar Mahadev Temple in Barabanki district of Uttar Pradesh today, police said.
According to eyewitnesses, the accident took place just 200 meters from the temple, where shops were being set up for the fourth and last Monday of Shrawan festivities tomorrow. Amid heavy rain, water had accumulated around the area. A live current from an electric pole spread through the standing water, trapping those nearby.
