Deoria, March 15 -- Two personnel posted at the Superintendent of Police (SP)'s office in Deoria district were arrested on Saturday in connection with an alleged corruption case involving a promise of a job in the police department in exchange for money, officials disclosed today.
The accused include a confidential assistant (Ashu clerk) posted with the SP and a constable assigned to the media cell.
According to police, they allegedly took Rs 15 lakh from a retired Army personnel after promising to secure him a job in the police department. The case has been registered at the Sadar Kotwali police station, and the investigation has been handed over to the Circle Officer (City).
