Azamgarh (UP), Nov. 11 -- Three persons were sentenced today to life imprisonment along with a fine of Rs 82,000 each by a local court in Azamgarh district of Uttar Pradesh in a more than 23-year-old murder case, a prosecution officer said.

District Government Counsel Priyadarshi Piyush Tripathi said the court of District and Sessions Judge Jaiprakash Pandey pronounced the sentence on Kamlesh, Indrasan and Dinesh after they were found guilty.

He said that during the assembly elections Harishankar Singh alias Jhinku Singh, from Raunapar police station, was campaigning with his supporters on February 17, 2002.
