Gonda, Dec. 31 -- A sub-inspector posted at Nawabganj police station in the district was arrested red-handed by the Devipatan Division Anti-Corruption Organization team while allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 10,000 at the Nawabganj Block Office premises.
According to Anti-Corruption Organization team in-charge Inspector Dhananjay Singh, Harish Chandra Mishra, a resident of Raghunathpur in Nawabganj, had lodged a complaint on December 23 against Brijesh Yadav of Vishnoharpur and five others for assault at his residence. The investigation of the case was being handled by Sub-Inspector Amar Patel.
It is alleged that Sub-Inspector Patel demanded money from Brijesh Yadav, threatening to add serious charges to the case and send him to jail.
