Pratapgarh, Dec. 24 -- : A Rs 25,000 reward accused escaped from a government hospital in Pratapgarh after allegedly evading police custody late Tuesday night, triggering panic within the police department.
The accused, identified as Javed Ali, had been injured in a police encounter earlier that day and was admitted to the district medical college for treatment, police said on Wednesday.
According to police officials, Ali was shot in the leg during a brief encounter on Tuesday when he allegedly opened fire at a police team during a vehicle-checking operation near Aampur village in the Patti police station area.
