Gorakhpur, March 4 -- A 44-year-old man allegedly murdered his wife with an axe in the Khajni police station area of Gorakhpur and later informed the police about the crime himself.
He also reportedly attempted to attack his teenage son, who managed to escape and alert relatives.
The accused, identified as Ashok Nishad, a resident of Dhadhaupar village, allegedly killed his wife Neelam Devi (40) while their two children were asleep in separate rooms, police said today.
According to police, Ashok called the authorities after the incident and confessed to the murder, stating that his wife's body was lying inside the house, late on Tuesday night.
