Baghpat, March 11 -- A 42-year-old man from Shamli district was allegedly shot dead during a wedding ceremony in the Doghat town of Baghpat district in Uttar Pradesh, police said today.
According to police, the incident occurred around 1:30 a.m. on Tuesday night when the victim, identified as Vicky alias Vivek, a resident of Bahavdi village in Shamli, arrived at a farmhouse parking area with his wife Babli and others to attend the wedding as part of a wedding procession.
Baghpat Superintendent of Police Suraj Kumar Rai said that two people from the victim's own village allegedly opened fire on him due to an old personal rivalry, killing him on the spot.
