Barabanki, April 2 -- A major gas leak from an LPG tanker created panic and traffic chaos on the Lucknow-Ayodhya highway near Aseni turn in Barabanki.
The tanker, reportedly heading towards Nepal, began leaking gas suddenly on Wednesday night.
Due to the severity of the leak, authorities had to shut down both lanes of the highway, severely disrupting traffic on routes connecting Lucknow, Ayodhya, and Gorakhpur.
Thousands of vehicles remained stranded overnight. Initial attempts by local teams and experts from the Indian Oil plant in Banthra failed to stop the leak due to high internal pressure.
