Deoria, Jan. 2 -- Former IPS officer and ex-Deoria Superintendent of Police, Amitabh Thakur has been on an indefinite hunger strike since Thursday evening while lodged in Deoria jail.
He disclosed this today after a hearing on his bail application at the Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) court, where he also spoke to mediapersons.
Thakur said he is demanding CCTV footage related to his arrest in Shahjahanpur and the period when he was kept at Deoria Sadar Kotwali.
He alleged that evidence is being destroyed to protect police personnel and said his hunger strike would continue until the footage is provided. He added that he has full faith in the judiciary.
