Meerut, Dec. 10 -- Meerut's Vigilance Establishment team on Tuesday arrested the AIG Stamps and his stenographer red-handed while accepting bribe inside the temporary tehsil premises in Shamli.
The officials allegedly demanded money from Mahesh Kumar, a resident of Mundet, for showing reduced stamp duty during the registration of land purchased in Hathchoiya.
Around 1-30 pm, the Vigilance team reached the tehsil complex located in Banat and strategically positioned themselves near the AIG Stamps office situated above the registrar's office. Mahesh, who had purchased 26 bighas of land, had earlier filed a complaint stating that he was being asked to pay Rs 1 lakh as a bribe.
