Lucknow, Jan. 17 -- Amidst rapid modernisation of technology in the law enforcing system, Uttar Pradesh police would once again go back to age-old beat policing system, claimed an official statement of the state government here on Friday.

The system which is initially kicked-off in 100 police stations of the State on Thursday would now further spread to one police station each of 50 more districts of the state.

''To improve law and order situation and crime control, beat policing system has been already introduced in 100 police stations of the state on the direction of DGP OP Singh on Thursday'',

The statement further said that the exercise was part of ''Pilot Project'' of DGP to re-start traditional policing system.
