Lucknow, Jan. 11 -- Under a smart policing initiative based on technology, the UP Police's UPCOP app and Citizen Portal are now emerging as a digital alternative to police stations for the general public, a top officee said on Sunday.

Through the app, citizens are receiving 27 types of police services from the comfort of their homes, including filing FIRs, saving them from the hassle of repeatedly visiting police stations, Director General of Police (DGP) Rajiv Krishna said here.

He said on the instructions of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, technology has been effectively integrated to make policing people-centric, transparent, and accountable. As a result, the UPCOP app is now functioning as a "digital police station."He said that the a...
