Varanasi, Sept. 20 -- Amidst an ongoing dispute between lawyers and police officers in Varanasi, a Member of the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Council (MLC) wrote a letter to Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath demanding the implementation of the Advocate Protection Act.
In his letter MLC Ashutosh Sinha wrote that the harassment of lawyers by the police in Varanasi district is seriously affecting law and order.
"This situation poses a threat to the dignity of the judiciary and the rule of law. The issue of implementing the Advocate Protection Act has been raised several times in the Legislative Council to ensure constitutional and legal protection for lawyers," he said.
