Lucknow, April 23 -- The Uttar Pradesh government has taken an unprecedented step to ensure the safety and academic excellence of nearly 1.10 lakh girl students studying in 746 Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalayas (KGBVs) across the state, official sources said here on Wednesday.
Sources said that under an ambitious plan worth Rs 161 crore, each school is being fortified with an 8-foot-high, 9-inch-thick fortress-style boundary wall, topped with 1,01,906 meters of barbed wire and equipped with 7,230 high-quality CCTV cameras for round the clock surveillance.
Sources said that the modern security system, operated from a centralised control room in Lucknow, will closely monitor everything from mid-day meals to classroom learning. "The aim is ...
