Lucknow, Oct. 29 -- The Congress today strongly objected to the large-scale transfer of district magistrates and other senior officials in Uttar Pradesh, hours after the announcement of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls by the Election Commission of India (ECI).

All India Congress Committee (AICC) spokesperson Akhilesh Pratap Singh said the move by the state government, carried out on the direction of the Chief Minister, violates the directions issued by the Election Commission under Article 324 of the Constitution.
