Lucknow, May 8 -- The Uttar Pradesh government has once again set a new record in wheat procurement and reaffirmed its commitment to farmer welfare and food security, official sources said here on Thursday.
Sources said that as of May 8, the state has procured an impressive 9.26 lakh metric tonnes of wheat from over 1.73 lakh farmers through 5,852 purchase centres, marking a significant jump from the 6.88 lakh metric tonnes procured during the same period last year.
Sources said that this procurement drive has provided direct financial benefit to 173,381 farmers, out of 446,725 registered for the season, with over Rs 2,045 crore already disbursed seamlessly into their bank accounts under the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) system. "The Mini...
