Lucknow, April 14 -- To promote educational empowerment among Scheduled Caste students in Uttar Pradesh, a network of 264 free hostels operated by the Social Welfare Department is playing a vital role in supporting SC boys and girls in their pursuit of education, official sources said here on Monday.
Sources said that among these, 188 hostels are designated for boys and 76 for girls. "These hostels not only offer free residential facilities to students from economically weaker SC backgrounds, but also provide a conducive academic environment, access to educational resources and holistic development opportunities," they said.
