Lucknow, Sept. 22 -- The Uttar Pradesh government has completely banned caste-based rallies across the state. The decision follows a recent directive from the Allahabad High Court.

Acting Chief Secretary Deepak Kumar issued a 10-point directive late last night to all district magistrates, secretaries, and police chiefs. The order mandates the removal of caste references from police records, including FIRs, arrest memos, and other official forms.

The directive also prohibits the public display of caste-based signs and slogans on notice boards, vehicles, and signboards. Vehicles found with caste names, slogans, or stickers will be issued challans under the Central Motor Vehicles Act, 1988.
