Lucknow, Aug. 14 -- Addressing the State Assembly today, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath firmly dismissed the Opposition allegation of shutting down 29,000 schools in the state.

He said the state's education system is now stronger and more modern, clarifying that no schools are being shut, instead, those with under 50 students and within a one-kilometre radius are being merged into integrated campuses with better facilities. The added, "This school pairing initiative aims to achieve a 22:1 student-teacher ratio and raise education quality."
