Lucknow, Sept. 28 -- In a bid to improve governance and service delivery in rapidly growing cities in the state, the Uttar Pradesh government has prepared a comprehensive plan to restructure urban administrative bodies.
Urban Development and Energy Minister AK Sharma said that the step is part of the government's vision to transform cities in UP into globally competitive urban centres.
"Under the new system, all 762 urban local bodies have been classified into three categories based on population size and administrative needs. This marks the first major structural update in decades and will enhance the quality of public services, transparency and efficiency in the implementation of development plans," he said.
