Lucknow, May 5 -- The Uttar Pradesh government is running a drive to ensure food security for the poor by identifying all eligible families under the National Food Security Act (NFSA) and is issuing ration cards, official sources said here on Monday.

Sources said that with over 3.16 crore general and 40.73 lakh Antyodaya cards issued, nearly 15 crore people are now receiving free ration across the state.

"According to data from the Department of Food and Civil Supplies, Prayagraj leads the state in ration card distribution with over 9.34 lakh cards benefiting more than 40.29 lakh people.
