Varanasi, Dec. 16 -- The Uttar Pradesh Anti-Terrorism Squad (UP ATS) on Monday arrested a senior member of the banned extremist organisation CPI (Maoist), who had been absconding for nearly 13 years and was carrying a reward of Rs 50,000. The accused was apprehended from Kashi Railway Station in Varanasi.
The arrested Maoist has been identified as Sitaram alias Vinay Ji alias Om Prakash alias Dhanu, son of late Ramdhari, a resident of Mudiyari village under Maniyar police station in Ballia district, Uttar Pradesh. He was a key functionary of CPI (Maoist) and was wanted in several serious criminal cases related to Naxal violence.
