Lucknow, Sept. 30 -- In a major crackdown on a radical terror module, the Uttar Pradesh Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) today arrested the mastermind of a dangerous anti-national conspiracy, Mohammad Raza, from Malappuram in Kerala. His arrest follows the earlier detention of four other accused from Kanpur, Rampur, Sonbhadra, and Sultanpur yesterday.
According to ATS officials, the five accused were planning to form a radical outfit called the Mujahid Army in Uttar Pradesh, with the intent to incite communal violence and enforce Sharia law in India through armed jihad. The accused were reportedly influenced by extremist Pakistani organizations.
