Thane, Sept. 21 -- The Uttar Pradesh Anti-Terrorism Squad (UP ATS) has arrested three youths from Bhiwandi, Thane district, on suspicion of collecting and transferring funds to Palestine. According to officials, the trio allegedly remitted about Rs 3 lakh abroad.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Mohammad Ayan Mohammad Husain (22), Abu Sufiyan Tajammul Ansari (22), and Zaid Notiyar Abdul Kadir (22), all residents of Bhiwandi.
According to ATS sources, an investigation on August 27 revealed that large sums of money were being sent from Bhiwandi to Uttar Pradesh and eventually to Palestine. Acting on this information, a UP ATS team began surveillance in Bhiwandi on Friday.
