Badaun (UP), March 8 -- A 40-year-old woman was set on fire by her husband allegedly after she objected to drinking in the Mujaria area of Badaun district in Uttar Pradesh, police sources said here on Friday.
Police sources said Munish Saxena, a resident of Nethua village, is an alcoholic and used to thrash his wife Shanno very often.
"On Thursday night, Shanno once again objected to Munish consuming liquor. On this, the accused poured inflammable substance on her and set her on fire," they said.
Police sources said that Shanno's mother-in-law, Munni Devi (70) sustained burn injuries when she attempted to douse the flame.
