Meerut, Feb. 11 -- In a shocking case, two sub-inspectors posted at Lohiyanagar police station in Meerut district have been accused of kidnapping a thread merchant and extorting Rs 20 lakh at gunpoint.

Acting on the orders of SSP Avinash Pandey, an FIR (first information report) has been registered against both accused officers under serious sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Prevention of Corruption Act.

The case came to light after Lisadi Gate resident and trader, Rasik, narrated his ordeal.
