Lucknow, Dec. 8 -- The Special Task Force (STF) has requested verified records from the Commercial Tax Department to dig deeper into the ongoing cough syrup scandal.
The STF has already seized several GST-related documents during its probe. Initial investigations have revealed that the accused supplied codeine-based cough syrup multiple times using fake e-way bills.
Along with the STF and the Enforcement Directorate (ED), the Commercial Tax Department has now become an active part of the investigation.
The department is providing detailed information about the firms linked to the accused. Authorities are also working to verify the exact destinations-countries, states, and districts-where these firms supplied the cough syrup.
