Lucknow, Feb. 27 -- In a setback to the Samajwadi Party (SP) MLA from Unchahar seat in Rae Bareli district, Chief Whip of the SP Legislative Party (SPLP) Manoj Kumar Pandey resigned from the post on Tuesday.
Pandey has sent his resignation to SP chief and Leader of the Opposition in the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly, Akhilesh Yadav.
In his letter, Pandey said, "It is to inform you that you have appointed me as the Chief Whip of SPLP. I hereby resign from the post. Please accept my resignation."
It may be noted that Pandey's resignation came at a time when speculations are rife that some SP MLAs may vote in favour of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidates.
