Lucknow, Feb. 24 -- At least six people, including a woman and three children, were killed and over 45 others injured after a double-decker bus overturned on the Purvanchal Expressway in Lucknow today evening.

However, officials have so far confirmed five deaths.

The accident occurred in the Gosainganj police station area near the expressway toll plaza when the bus, travelling from Ludhiana in Punjab to Motihari in Bihar, reportedly went out of control and overturned at the 11.2-kilometre mark. Around 80 to 85 passengers were on board at the time of the incident.

According to Deputy Commissioner of Police Nipun Agarwal, the deceased include one man, one woman, and three children.
