Lucknow, April 6 -- Under the Uttar Pradesh State Rural Livelihood Mission, women of self-help groups (SHG) are gaining employment in food processing, branding and direct sales, significantly boosting their income and economic independence, official sources said here on Sunday.
Sources said that currently, 520 self-help groups are active in Varanasi, Sultanpur and Aligarh, boosting rural women's incomes, while a major centre is also set to launch in Banda. "Through this campaign, a new model of economic empowerment has emerged, connecting women directly to the market," they said.
