Jhansi, Jan. 13 -- A senior clerk of the Public Works Department (PWD) was caught red-handed while allegedly accepting Rs 20,000 asan installment of Rs 50,000 bribe here today.
The accused, identified as Santosh Niranjan, is posted in the pension department of PWD. The Anti-Corruption Team arrested him during a trap operation after verifying a complaint filed by the victim.
According to officials, the Anti-Corruption Organization (ACO) team recovered Rs 20,000 from the spot. When the team took Santosh Niranjan into custody, he tried to hide his face with a handkerchief.
