Varanasi, Nov. 28 -- Varanasi, Prime Minister Narendra Modi's parliamentary constituency, is set to become the first city of the country to introduce ropeway service as a means of public transport, officials said on Sunday.
Officials here on Sunday said in the first phase the ropeway will of 3.45 km long covering Cantt Railway Station, Sajan Tiraha, Rathyatra, and Girja Ghar Chauraha.
It will take around 2 years to complete this project which will be done through PPP model.
Earlier , the government had made a proposal for a Metro rail in the city but due to heavy congestion it wasn't found to be viable.
Sources said that the DPR of the project has been sanctioned and bidding process will be completed by December 11 next.
