Deoria (UP), April 6 -- A 50-year-old kirtan singer was shot dead by unidentified persons in Surauli area of Deoria district in Uttar Pradesh, police sources said here on Sunday.
Police sources said that Ram Murat Chauhan, a resident of village Sukai Parsia in Surauli area, used to sing Kirtan, and on Saturday evening, he went to village August Par in the Sadar Kotwali area. "In the night, when Chauhan was returning to his village on a motorcycle, he was shot by unidentified miscreants near Dhamaur Parshuram village. He died on the spot," the Police said.
