Varanasi, Feb. 10 -- Demolition work continued on Tuesday in the Dal Mandi area of the city for road widening and strengthening.
On Monday, a shopkeeper, in protest against the demolition drive, poured inflammable material on his balcony and set it on fire.
Based on a complaint filed by Dal Mandi outpost in-charge Prakash Singh Chauhan, a case has been registered against Ajmat and Farooq Khan, along with other unidentified persons, under Section 221 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and Section 7 of the Criminal Law Act.
Assistant Police Commissioner Dr Atul Anjan Tripathi said while Farooq has been arrested, Ajmat, who allegedly set the fire, is absconding.
