Rae Bareli, Feb. 14 -- An elderly woman was killed and three others injured in a powerful explosion at Sahabganj market under Salon police station limits in Rae Bareli.
According to officials, the blast occurred at the residence of Firoz, a licensed firecracker manufacturer, late on Friday night, completely flattening the house where firecrackers were allegedly stored illegally. While he possessed a valid fireworks manufacturing licence, authorities suspect he had turned his home into an unauthorized storage facility, stockpiling a large quantity of firecrackers inside.
The explosion was so intense that its sound was heard from a considerable distance, and residents in nearby houses reported strong tremors, police disclosed today.
