Ayodhya, Feb. 8 -- The body of a sub-inspector was found floating in the Saryu River late today evening near the Ayodhya Kotwali area, close to the border of Basti district.
The deceased has been identified as Sub-Inspector Ajay Gaur, who was posted at Parshuram Pur police station in Basti district. He was a 2015-batch sub-inspector and was a native of Deoria district.
According to the police, SI Ajay Gaur had been missing since February 5, and search efforts were underway since then. Boatmen spotted the body floating in the river near the under-construction highway between Naya Ghat and Dashrath Samadhi site. They immediately informed the police.
