Lucknow, Feb. 23 -- Uttar Pradesh Congress President Ajay Rai has written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, seeking an independent, impartial, and transparent investigation into a POCSO case registered against Swami Avimukteshwaranand Saraswati, the Shankaracharya of Jyotirmath Peeth.
In his letter sent on Monday, Rai stated that media reports indicate that a First Information Report (FIR) was filed under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act following court directions. While emphasizing that judicial orders must be respected, he noted that the timing and circumstances of the case have raised questions and concerns among sections of society.
