Hyderabad, Nov. 20 -- Prof Karumuri Ashok, a faculty member in the Centre for Earth, Ocean and Atmospheric Sciences (CEOAS) at the School of Physics, University of Hyderabad (UoH), has been conferred the prestigious Indian Meteorological Society (IMS) Fellowship for 2025.
The honour recognises his significant contributions to climate research, including the discovery of ENSO Modoki, studies on tropical Indo-Pacific teleconnections, development of the Indian Earth System Model, monsoon variability, past and future climate change, and seasonal to decadal climate predictions. His work on urban extreme events has also been widely acknowledged.
