United Nations, Aug. 11 -- The United Nations Security Council on Sunday strongly condemned violence against civilians in Sweida, a predominantly Druze province in southern Syria.
In a presidential statement, the Security Council expressed deep concerns over the recent escalation of violence in the Sweida governorate since July 12, including mass killings and the internal displacement of people. It urged all parties to adhere to the ceasefire arrangement and protect civilians regardless of their ethnicity or religion.
