Pune, Jan. 9 -- Unopposed elections held in several municipal corporations and municipal councils across the state have sparked discussions in political circles. While some opposition parties have raised objections, Hemant Patil, National President of India Against Corruption and an OBC leader, stated on Friday that unopposed elections are, in fact, a symbol of a strong democracy.

In many places across the state, corporators have been elected unopposed. Notably, this does not involve candidates from just one party, but includes candidates from all major political parties.
